Important Information About our prices listed on Third-Party Websites
Kane’s Funeral Services has been serving families for many years. As a result, some third-party comparison or information websites may not always be kept fully up to date.
This can sometimes mean that prices or service details shown elsewhere are incorrect or out of date. For example, some websites may still state that Kane’s offers pre-paid funeral plans, which we no longer provide.
For the most accurate and current information, including pricing and available services, we recommend referring directly to our website or speaking with our team.
If a death occurs at home, you should contact the GP or relevant medical professional first. Once the death has been verified, you can contact us at any time, day or night, and we will guide you through the next steps and bring your loved one into our care. If the death occurs in a hospital or care setting, staff will advise you, and you can then contact us when you’re ready.
Yes. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our dedicated team is always on hand to provide immediate support and advice whenever you need us.

A standard-sized coffin is 6 feet 2 inches in length and 22 inches in width.
Unfortunately, if the deceased exceeds these dimensions, a larger coffin will be required and this will incur an additional cost. Any extra cost will always be discussed and confirmed by your funeral director before arrangements are finalised.
We offer three clearly defined funeral options to suit different needs and preferences: The Residents Funeral, Kane’s Direct, and The Horsedrawn Funeral. Our pricing is simple and transparent—the prices shown are exactly what you pay, with no hidden extras. We will always explain your options clearly and help you choose the right service for your family.
We understand that arranging a funeral can place financial pressure on families. Depending on your circumstances, there may be government support available to help with some of the costs. The information below outlines the main types of assistance that may be available.
The Funeral Expenses Payment is a government-provided benefit that helps people in England and Wales who receive certain qualifying benefits with funeral costs.
If you live in Scotland, this payment has been replaced by the Funeral Support Payment, which serves a similar purpose.
This payment does not usually cover the full cost of a funeral. The amount awarded depends on your individual situation and takes into account any other money available, such as:
Funds from the deceased’s estate
Insurance policies or other financial support
If the deceased had a pre-paid funeral plan, you can normally receive up to £120 towards items not included within that plan.
Where the funeral has not yet been paid for, the payment is usually made directly to the funeral director.
How to apply:
The simplest way to claim is by telephone: 0800 731 0469, then select Option 2
A claim form (SF200) can be collected from a Jobcentre Plus office or downloaded online
Further details can be found here:

Financial help may also be available through the Bereavement Support Payment if your husband, wife, or civil partner passed away on or after 6 April 2017.
You may be able to claim if, at the time of their death:
You were under State Pension age
You were married to or in a civil partnership with the deceased
The deceased paid income tax for at least six months between 1975 and the date of death
The death was caused by an accident at work or a work-related illness
Payments available:
A tax-free lump sum of £2,500, followed by 18 monthly payments of £100
If you have children under 18 and receive Child Benefit, this increases to:
£3,500 lump sum, plus 18 monthly payments of £350
You can download a Bereavement Support Payment pack (form BSP1) or request one by contacting Jobcentre Plus.

A Budgeting Loan is an interest-free loan that may help contribute towards funeral costs. Repayments are taken directly from your benefits, and you only repay the amount you borrow.
You may qualify if you or your partner have been receiving one of the following income-related benefits for at least 26 weeks:
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Pension Credit
The maximum loan available is £812 if you have children. The amount offered will depend on:
Your ability to repay the loan
The level of your savings
Savings above £1,000 (or £2,000 if you or your partner are over 62) may affect eligibility.
If you are unsure which support you may be entitled to, or would like help understanding the process, our team is always available to offer guidance and support during this difficult time.
Absolutely. Every life is unique, and we work closely with families to create a meaningful, personal farewell that reflects your loved ones wishes, beliefs, personality, and legacy.
Yes. We will guide you through all necessary paperwork, including registration of the death, cremation or burial forms, and liaising with third parties, helping to ease the administrative burden at a difficult time.
Yes. We are experienced in arranging religious, non-religious, and culturally specific funerals. We will always respect your beliefs, traditions, and wishes, working closely with officiants, celebrants, and places of worship to ensure the service is conducted with dignity and care.
At Kane Funeral Services, we believe that the choice of a celebrant or priest is a deeply personal decision. Every family has their own beliefs, traditions, or preferences, and we want to give you the freedom to decide what feels right for your loved one.
For this reason, the services of a celebrant or priest are not included in the standard prices of either Kanes Direct or The Residents Funeral Service. This allows families to:
Choose someone who reflects their personal beliefs or values.
Decide if they want a religious, spiritual, or non-religious ceremony.
Add this service only if it is meaningful to them, avoiding unnecessary costs.
Our team is always on hand to advise or arrange a celebrant or priest if you would like one, ensuring your service is personal, dignified, and exactly as you wish.
We understand that arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming, so we aim to make every cost as clear and straightforward as possible. A funeral generally includes three main elements:
Our funeral director services
Third-party costs such as burial or cremation fees
Optional extras such as flowers, limousines, and Doves
If you are arranging a burial, there are additional costs you may wish to consider, such as:
Purchase of the burial plot
Grave digging fees
Minister or officiant fees
Burial costs can vary depending on location, so we recommend using our funeral cost calculator to see what applies in your area.
Cremation is often a more affordable option, though costs can vary across the UK. Cremation services may include a simple farewell or a more personalised ceremony. Our funeral cost calculator can help you explore these options and understand what suits your needs.
At Kane Funeral Services, our funeral director fees cover all aspects of arranging and providing a dignified, personal service, including:
Guidance and support through every step of the arrangements
Liaising with third parties such as clergy, florists, crematorium and cemetery staff
Preparing and completing all legal and administrative documentation
Care and preparation of your loved one, including collection, preparation for the funeral, and embalming if required
Provision of a hearse and all necessary personnel, including coffin bearers and drivers
A fully lined and fitted coffin or casket
Optional extras such as limousines, flowers, or other personal touches, available at additional cost depending on your choices
Third-party fees, also known as disbursements, are costs paid to organisations outside of Kane Funeral Services for services we do not provide directly. These may include:
Church or venue fees
Cremation or burial fees
Minister or officiant fees (Note: there are no fees for Church of Scotland ministers)
Additional personal touches such as musicians or other special requests
